We’ll arrange all of your transport and baggage transfers so that when you arrive at your cosy British accommodation after a full day’s walking, your belongings will be waiting for you and you can put your feet up. On Day 4, your final day, you will have the chance to see ‘The Rumps’, a location with stunning scenery, sweeping views and the chance to spot a dolphin or two if you are very lucky! As for lunch, you could even be dining at famous British chef Rick Stein’s classy seafood restaurant in Padstow. Our day of hiking will finish at the ruins of Tintagel Castle, one of the most iconic visitor attractions in the South West and the supposed birthplace of King Arthur.ĭay 3 consists of a hike to the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac, renowned for having one of the narrowest streets in Britain! You’ll be able to sample some of Cornwall’s most famous dishes and we’ll prepare a typically British picnic for you to enjoy by the sea. From Boscastle, we will venture along some of Cornwall’s highest cliff tops, across rugged headlands and past the old stone stiles and cottages that connect this stunning coastline to its maritime history. Inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur, for centuries this dramatic castle has fired the imaginations of writers, artists, and even the brother of a king. On Day 2 the hiking begins! This remote part of the Cornish coast is romantic and reflective, inspiring generations of Britain’s finest artists and writers. Tintagel Castle, set high on Cornwalls rugged north coast, combines history, myth and stunning scenery. There is no hiking involved in Day 1, giving you time to recover from your long journey to Cornwall, but there are many fantastic sights to take in and even more to look forward to on your second day. We’ll make sure you get plenty of pictures that will make all your friends back home jealous! Afterwards, we will drive northwards up the coast to the village of Boscastle, where the dramatic coastline inspired some of Thomas Hardy’s finest works. Here you can spend some time on the sand, walking amid the Jurassic picture-postcard structures and exploring the hidden coves. On Day 1 we will encounter one of the most dramatic stretches of the Cornish coast, Carnewas and the Bedruthan Steps. The hike will be filled with fantastic scenery, geology, wildlife and history. Over the course of 4 days, you will hike one of the most stunning stretches of Britain’s longest footpath, the South West Coastal Path – voted one of the top walks in the world by Lonely Planet. The site has changed hands over the centuries, from Roman rule to a Celtic kings but the most of the castle was built by Richard the Earl of Cornwall.Natural coastal beauty, idyllic seaside villages, fresh air and plenty of fresh seafood – these are just a few of the highlights of this hiking tour. It was Geoffrey of Monmouth who named the castle as the place of King Arthur’s conception in the 12th century in his book Historia Regum Britanniae. ![]() Most of the ruins date from this period but there are signs of a much earlier fortress too which is where the claims of Tintagel being the birthplace of King Arthur hold their roots. You’ll find yourself wondering how on earth they managed to build such an establishment on such a rocky headland in the 13th century. They lead you up and over the headland and its both fascinating and mind-blowing.
